SEBS EOF facilitates tutorial services for all program students. Tutoring is offered to program students at no additional cost. Its purpose is to complement classroom instruction, not to replace it. During each session, participants acquire the ability to self-identify areas of weakness and develop strategies for success. These sessions are structured to sharpen students’ critical thinking and problem solving skills, while promoting student application of course content. Based on the Piaget model of learning, students are taught how to distinguish their learning styles and to identify instructional resources that best suit those styles, thus enhancing learning outcomes.
SEBS EOF first year students enrolled in a Rutgers math course are required to participate in our Academic Support for math course (11:364:112/113). Beginning fall 2024, we will also offer supplemental support via peer tutors for SEBS EOF students taking General Biology, General Chemistry or Organic Chemistry.
Program services will be supplemented by other Rutgers-New Brunswick academic support programs, such as ODASIS, Writing Center, Learning Centers, Student Support Services, and the Math & Science Learning Center.
