Rutgers SEBS alumnus Rahim Mahmoud, Class of 2018, earned his degree in Environmental and Business Economics while building a legacy of leadership and service on campus. During his time at Rutgers, he served as Vice President of the Delta Iota Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. and held several additional executive board positions dedicated to student engagement and community impact.
Following graduation, Rahim began his professional career as a financial analyst at Johnson & Johnson, where he supported the Treasury Department and later transitioned into a career in law enforcement. In 2025, he earned a Master of Public Health in Global Health from Rutgers University. Both his undergraduate and graduate studies were made possible through the support of the United Negro College Fund Gates Scholarship, which played a pivotal role in his academic journey.
Most recently, Rahim graduated from Seton Hall University School of Law, where he distinguished himself as a student leader, advocate, and aspiring trial attorney. He served as Event Coordinator for the Black Law Students Association and was an active member of the Mock Trial Board, competing in Buffalo, New York. Rahim also participated in the prestigious McLaughlin Advanced Trial Advocacy Workshop, where he had the opportunity to argue before federal judge James B. Clark, III.
Committed to service beyond the classroom, Rahim spearheaded “Shop Talks,” a community engagement initiative designed to connect community members with legal resources and second-chance opportunities in a local barbershop setting. Through this program, he helped bridge the gap between legal advocacy and community empowerment.
Rahim credits much of his success to the mentorship and support he received through SEBS EOF, especially from Director Dr. Moore, former director Dean Sabb, and Dean Wyatt, whose guidance helped shape both his personal and professional growth.
Following the bar exam, Rahim will clerk for the Honorable Terrence Cook, a fellow Rutgers alumnus. Looking ahead, Rahim is passionate about using his legal education and life experiences to mentor and uplift students from backgrounds similar to his own, helping them realize the opportunities and futures they envision for themselves.
Outside of his professional and academic pursuits, Rahim values spending quality time with his wife and two daughters. Together, they enjoy traveling, creating meaningful experiences, and building lasting memories as a family.
